Athletics are important for reasons beyond the pride it can bring to the individuals involved, the school itself, and the community. Athletics teach sportsmanship, teamwork, mutual assistance, and help hone a competitive spirit.
There have been many studies showing high school athletes performing better in the classroom than their counterparts who do not participate in athletics. Part of an increased academic performance involves the Academic Eligibility Procedure, which all athletes must agree to in order to participate in athletics through Williston Public School District #1.
The WHS Activities and Athletics forms must be filled out and turned into the Williston High School Athletic Department Office in order to compete in sports in the district. This packet includes the following forms, which must all be turned in at the same time:
- Physical Evaluation Form dated no earlier than April 15th
- Code of Conduct and Sportsmanship
- Medical Care Form
- Waiver and Release of Liability
- Academic Eligibility Form
Participation fees are required to offset operational costs of athletics. These costs include travel costs, uniforms, officials, equipment, and other expenses needed to have an athletic team.
High School Athletics
There are a number of sports offered through Williston High School, but there are also chances for students to get involved with outside groups we have lettering agreements with. For more information on this, please contact the Activities and Athletics Office.
Middle School Athletics
Williston Middle School students who wish to participate in sports available from Williston High School but not from Williston Middle School are encouraged to talk to those Williston High School coaches about joining their sport. This includes Swim and Dive, Golf, Hockey, Cross Country, and Tennis.
