Substitute Teacher Information

Looking for information on becoming a substitute teacher? Find it at the North Dakota Education Standards and Practices Board website.

To receive your interim substitute teacher license, you will need a North Dakota school administrator to request the license for you. To do this, please contact Chery Pierzina at chery.pierzina@willistonschools.org or call 701-713-7454.

Q. Do you have any job postings or current openings? Is there an automated phone number for job listings within the District? We do not have an automated phone system for job listings. To view all open positions at the Williston Public School District, please visit our online WPSD #1 Online Application page.

 

Q. Are temporary assignments available?

The availability of temporary assignments varies. Please visit our online Employment Application page to see which positions are available. Some positions advertised as posted until filled may be used to fill temporary positions within the classification(s) posted.

 

Q. When do postings close?

This varies depending on the type of position. Please refer to the specific posting for the position you are interested in to verify the closing date. The majority of positions are open for at least ten (10) days. Postings usually close at 11:30 p.m.

 

Q. Is there any grace time considered if you miss the posting deadline by one day? No, your application must be submitted online by the posted deadline.

Due to the severe teacher shortages in rural areas and the oil patch, all content/degree areas are considered shortage areas.  Please visit the North Dakota Education Standards and Practices Board (ESPB) for additional licensure and critical shortage area information.

Q.  Do you need substitute teachers in your school district?

Yes.  You can apply for an Interim Substitute Educator’s License at ND Education Standards and Practices Board (ESPB).  Click on the ND Teach icon.  All licensure forms and fingerprint instructions are listed on the ND Education Standards and Practices Board (ESPB) website.

 

Q.  How do I get a letter from a school administrator requesting an Interim Substitute License for myself?

Q.  Do I need a background check completed to work for your school district?

Yes.  Background check information will be given to you upon hire.
