History Fair

WHS Prepare for a History Fair
Posted on 04/23/2019

The fifty-one WHS students from The Holocaust: History and Memory course are holding a community history fair to share out what they have been learning this semester with particular focus on Holocaust survivor accounts. As part of the event, we will have actual World War II era artifacts on display and a focus on Jewish culture to better understand the events of the Holocaust.

This is the first time this elective course for upper classman has been offered at WHS. Last summer Kari Hall was the first North Dakota teacher to attended extensive Holocaust education training at The Olga Lengyel Institute for Holocaust Studies and Human Rights in NYC. The TOLI training is designed to foster Holocaust education with time spent with survivors and testimonies as a legacy of Holocaust survivor Olga Lengyel. Lengyel’s Five Chimneys has served as a focus memoir during this course. We want to share out with our community that “never again begins with you.”

WHS students are preparing a History Fair, with a focus on the Antisemitism of World War II, acts of Resistance, and Liberation of Holocaust survivors. We invite the community to attend and see what the students have learned about the Holocaust. There will be WWII artifacts on display. Thursday May, 16, Williston High School, 6-8 pm
