Congratulations to two our own Kindergarten students, Archer Geltel and Isabella Havskjold, for being selected as winners for the PBS Kids Writers Contest. Archer's story entitled "The Three Kittens Get Lost" won first prize for the state of North Dakota and Isabella's story entitled, "Chole and Everest", won the Red Ribbon Award. Archer's story will be entered into the National competition against state winners from around the United States! Great Job! Due to the current weather conditions, we will be dismissing all schools today, at 1:30 p.m. Buses will also run at 1:30 p.m.
All athletic practices will be canceled today, 4/12/2022.
Mrs. Carrier's Kindergarten class built "Peep Catapults" as a fun STEM activity before Easter Break. Students were able to build their catapult out of various supplies and practice hurling their peeps into a basket!

With the possibility of a winter storm approaching our area, we wanted to let you know that we are keeping a close eye on the weather.
As of right now, we are planning on running school as scheduled on Tuesday, 4/12/2022. Buses are also scheduled to run as normal.
There will be no school for Teacher In-Service on Wednesday, 4/13/2022, and Easter Break beginning Thursday, 4/14/2022, through Monday, 4/18/2022. Students will return to school on Tuesday, 4/19/2022.
If the situation changes, we will update parents through email, text, and on our District Facebook page (www.facebook.com/wbsd7).

REMINDER: Tomorrow is Color War Day for our April Reading Month dress-up. 4th grade wears blue. 3rd grade wears green. 2nd grade wears yellow. 1st grade wears orange. Kindergarten wears red. Staff wears the color of your class or purple!
Miss North Dakota visited Rickard on Monday and talked about the importance of face-to-face communication! Reyna Bergstrom shared her platform with the students in two assemblies with the Kindergarten- 2nd graders and 3rd & 4th graders and discussed how developing these social skills is essential for their future!
REMINDER: Tomorrow is our first dress-up day for April Reading Month. The theme is animal print. Wear all your funky and crazy animal print clothing!
Our March Mathness Month was a huge success. Thank you to all the students, staff, and parents for encouraging the learning of math as such an important life-long skill! Here are some pictures from our March Mathness Closing Ceremonies last Thursday! We had some special guests from the high school that joined us, too!
Reading Month has officially started at Rickard! The theme for this year is "Circus" and students will have many opportunities to participate in circus themed activities. Each class will track their reading progress of their students
and set goals for their whole classes. On Monday, our Reading Month Opening Ceremonies featured various members of our Rickard Circus! Students were able to see acts from the Ringmaster and Lion, the Strongwoman and Strongman, the Balloon Maker, and Rollerskating Clown.
Dress-Up Days for Reading Month are: Animal Print Day on 4/7, Color War Day on 4/12, Stuffed Animal Day on 4/21, and Pajama Day on 4/28!
Closing Ceremonies for Reading Month will be on May 2 where awards will be given to the top readers in each class!
REMINDER: Spring classroom pictures are tomorrow with Lifetouch! Only class pictures will be taken and they are $15.00. Order forms were sent home with the students last week.

Mrs. Jones and her kindergarten class were visited by a special friend on Monday! Mrs. Sorenson brought some of her family's' baby calves to school to show all the kindergarteners. Students were able to pet and bottle feed the calves, which created a lot of smiles for all!

For Farm Week, Mrs. Carrier's Kindergarten class churned their own butter to learn the process of how it's made! They even got to taste-test their creations the next day! Yum!
