Unofficial Results of the June 10, 2025 School Board Election 

The Williston Basin School District #7 is pleased to announce the unofficial results of today’s school board election. 
 
The following candidates have been (unofficially) elected to the school board:

  • Jeremy Brenner (At-Large) 

  • Brittany Kilgore (At-Large) 

  • Samuel Johnson (At-Large) 

  • Annette Sluder (Outside City Limits; write-in candidate

The unofficial total number of voters who cast ballots is 1,131 in person and 431 by absentee, for a combined total of 1,562 ballots.

The unofficial vote count for each candidate is as follows:

At-Large (3 positions available):

  • Jeremy Brenner - 1173         

  • Brittany Kilgore - 1112

  • Samuel Johnson - 870

  • Katie Zufelt - 610

  • Diane Schmidt - 312

  • David Rodriguez - 149 

Outside City Limits (1 position available):

  • Annette Sluder  - 974

  • Dennis Nehring - 441

Additional absentee ballots may still be received and counted. To be eligible, absentee ballots must have been postmarked no later than June 9, 2025
 
Official Results: The election will be canvassed on Monday, June 23, 2025 at 7:00 AM, at which time the official results will be declared, finalizing the election.

Below are the details surrounding the Qualifications, Roles & Responsibilities, and Member Compensation Rates for the School Board.

Qualifications
- A U.S. Citizen & North Dakota resident
- At least 18 years old on the day of the election
- A resident in the school district for at least the past 30 days

Roles & Responsibilities
The School Board's job is to represent, lead, and serve the community and to govern the district by establishing expectations for student achievement results, expectations for quality operational performance, and monitoring actual performance against those expectations.

Member Compensation Rates
Board Directors receive an annual stipend of $6,200, while the Board President receives $7,500 annually. Payments are issued in June and December.

• Absentee Ballots are due by 4:30 PM on June 9 at the WBSD7 District Office in the Secure Ballot Drop Box.
• Any absentee ballots returned via mail must be postmarked no later than June 9, 2025.
If you bring your ballot to the post office ON June 9, you must ask for it to be "hand-cancelled."

Absentee Voting

Absentee Ballots can be completed at the District Office at 820 E Broadway, Friday, June 6 from 7:30 AM - 4:30 PM.

The official ballot became available May 1, 2025.

Anyone wanting to vote in this election via Absentee Ballot will need to complete the Absentee Ballot Application (SFN 51468).

An Absentee Ballot Drop-Box will be accessible at the Williston Basin School District #7 District Office starting May 1, 2025 return to WBSD7 District Office in person by 4:30 PM on 6/9/25 at 820 E Broadway, Williston, ND or by mail to PO Box 1407, Williston, ND 58802 (postmarked by 6/9/25).

Please contact the WBSD7 District Office if you have submitted an absentee application but have not received a ballot 7-10 days after submission date.

Absentee Voting Process

Adults residing within Williston Basin School District #7 have the opportunity to vote for a total of 4 candidates in this election, regardless of their location within the district.

Public Notice

Notice is hereby given that the deadline for filing to have a candidate’s name printed on the ballot for the Williston Basin School District #7 is Monday, April 7, 2025 by 4:00 p.m.

The following offices are up for election:

  • Three (3) School Board Member AT LARGE Seats (4-year term)

  • One (1) School Board Member OUTSIDE CITY LIMITS Seat (4-year term)

A candidate for a school district office must prepare and sign a document stating the candidate’s name and the position for which the individual is a candidate, Affidavit of Candidacy [SFN 02703], and a Statement of Interests [SFN 10172]. These documents must be filed with the school district business manager for Williston Basin School District #7 by the above deadline date and time.
