2023-2024 Bell Schedule

Hello Parents and Guardians,
I hope you and your family have had a wonderful summer and are ready to get back to school. Our custodians and other staff have been working hard this summer to get our building and schedules prepared!
As the school year draws closer, we would like to give you a preview of some changes happening at Williston High School for the 2023-2024 school year that will be a benefit to our students.
The first change will be in our bell schedule and the addition of flex time. This will be a 40-minute period at the end of the day that will allow students to get help from their teachers if needed or to work on enrichment activities. There will also be some structured study hall time. Flex time will be mandatory for all freshmen and sophomores. Juniors and seniors may be required to attend during flex time if they are struggling with concepts in their classes. I will be posting the bell schedule on our Facebook page, so please check that out.
The second change is what we are calling the Freshman House. This will effectively put the Freshman students in one part of the building for their core classes. Each freshman will be assigned a team and that team will share core teachers. This is similar to how teams worked in middle school. This will allow the teachers to concentrate more on the struggling students. The Freshman will take elective classes in other parts of WHS just like the other students.
We will be continuing our closed campus for all Freshman and Sophomores. Juniors and Seniors in good standing will be allowed to leave campus for lunch. We will also continue with everyone on campus being required to wear an ID badge. This year we are coming in with just under 1400 students, and we need to see who is supposed to be here and who isn’t.
Some important dates and times:
August 7, 2023: Schedules are available to view on PowerSchool.
August 9,10,11. Sign up online with your counselor if you see something that needs to be changed with your schedule. Please see our Facebook page for the link.
August 17, 2023: Freshman and New Student Orientation and Open House.
There will be a short presentation at 6:00 pm with an Open House to follow. There will be no schedule changes during this time.
August 22, 2023: FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL!!!
We will gather in the Jon Cole Gym at 8:00 am with an all-school welcome. Students in grades 10-12 will have a shortened schedule and will finish the day at 11:45 am. Grade 9 students will stay all day with orientation activities. A full schedule is below.
I am looking forward to this upcoming school year. We have put a lot of work in this Spring and Summer preparing Williston High School to be the best it can be. My goal is to make Williston High School a better and safer place for our students to do their best in the classroom.
If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me.
Professionally,
Dr. Jason Germundson
