Remarkable Woman of the year Dr. Victoria Arneson

Williston Basin School District #7 is proud to announce that Dr. Victoria Arneson was presented the Remarkable Woman of the Year award by KX News. Dr. Victoria Arneson has been with Williston Basin School District for 13 years, previously as a 6th-grade math teacher and now currently the curriculum director. Dr. Arneson was recognized for how much she has done for the community and Williston Basin School District #7. Dr. Arneson stated “I am incredibly honored to receive this award. I have been watching all of the nominees this month and am in awe of the amazing women we have in North Dakota. I definitely do not feel deserving of this award and share it with all the women in my life that have supported me and continue to make me a better person.” Dr. Arneson is an advocate for domestic violence awareness, an advocate for student equal learning opportunities to learn, an Adjunct Professor for the University of Mary and Teacher Leadership Academy, and an advocate for single moms. She volunteers as a meal provider for the Single Moms Group through Dakota Family Solutions, was a former Eckert Youth Home Education Liaison, foster parent, previous winner of the 20 under 40 award, and draws community support in our schools. When Dr. Arneson was a 6th-grade math teacher she would have her students make blankets for the Family Crisis Shelter. Dr. Arneson has demonstrated her support and continues to be an active member of the community.

As the winner of the Western North Dakota’s Woman of the Year Dr. Arneson received a $1,000 donation to her charity of choice. The charity Dr. Arneson chose was the Family Crisis Shelter here in Williston, ND. Dr. Arneson states “The Family Crisis Shelter is an amazing service in our community. I was a client of FCS many years ago and they are an amazing organization. I was so thankful for the opportunity to recognize them with my award on a more public platform.”

Nominations for the Remarkable Woman of the Year were sent in across North Dakota to KX News. There was a committee of five people that determined the winner of the $1,000 award for charity and the most deserving Remarkable Woman Award. In receiving the Remarkable Woman of the Year 2023 award, Dr. Arneson joins an esteemed group of women who have made an impact in their respective fields and communities. Dr. Arneson will travel to Los Angeles for two days with the 117 women around the nation who won their local woman of the year.
