WILLISTON BASIN SCHOOL DISTRICT #7 SCHOOL BOND REFERENDUM PASSES
 
Williston, N.D. (April 17, 2024) The Williston Basin School District #7 is pleased to announce the successful passage of the school bond referendum, as indicated by the unofficial tally from the vote held on April 17th, 2024. With 66% "yes" votes, the bond's unofficial approval surpassed the necessary 60% super majority.

The unofficial vote count is as follows:

  • Yes: 2379

  • No:  1228

A total of 3,607 votes were tallied in tonight's unofficial count.

The canvassing of the election to verify and finalize the official results is scheduled for Tuesday, April 30th at 5:00 PM in the District Office board room.
 
The proposed $35 million bond aims to provide funding for the construction and equipping of one new elementary school, the purchase of land for the new school, and improvements to existing school facilities. The chosen site for the new elementary school is in Williston Square.

Superintendent Dr. Faidley: “I am extremely grateful to the Williston Community for supporting the WBSD7 bond referendum. We pledge to continue our record of transparency and good stewardship of the Williston community bond funds with an on-time, on-budget construction of a new elementary school. On behalf of the staff and students of the WBSD7, thank you for your trust and support.”
 
Board President, Kyle Renner: “Today is a great day for public education in Williston and a huge win for our students, teachers, and community. The public's investment in this new elementary school has set the school district up to handle growth and make our elementary schools K-5 again. Thank you to all who took time out of your schedules to cast your vote!”
 
Board Vice President, Chris Walstad: “I am intensely proud of Williston voters for approving this bond referendum and ultimately making an investment in themselves and Williston’s future, through the academic achievements that will be manifested within this great facility.”
