On January 29, 2029, the Emergency Response Team at Williston High School responded to a life-threatening medical emergency that resulted in a student's life being saved.
Caleb, a 10th-grade student, experienced cardiac arrest during the school day while in class. His teacher, Brandon Delvo, immediately issued a Raptor medical team alert, activating the school's emergency response protocol.
Officer Cook and Officer Nelson, two School Resource Officers, arrived and quickly began CPR. Nursing Director Lynn Douglas then used a Philips AED to deliver a lifesaving shock, successfully reviving the student.
The coordinated response, ongoing training, and clear communication among the School Resource Officers and Nursing Director were critical in those first moments.
Caleb is doing well today thanks to medical care and the continued support surrounding him during his recovery.
At the request of Caleb’s mother, a librarian at Williston Middle School Central Campus, WBSD7 is sharing this story to recognize the three staff members who responded immediately, along with the broader Williston High School team, the Williston Fire Department, and medical providers who supported the family in the days and weeks that followed.
The family also extends sincere appreciation to district staff, students, community members, and local organizations, including Ethan’s Heart and Studio 89 Dance Co., for the support shown during Caleb’s recovery. Meals, messages, gifts, and financial contributions have provided meaningful encouragement during a difficult time.
This experience reflects the importance of preparedness, training, and strong partnerships.
