𝟭𝟬.𝟴.𝟮𝟰 𝗪𝗠𝗦𝗖𝗖 𝗘𝘃𝗮𝗰𝘂𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 & 𝗥𝗲𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻
We want to provide you with a brief overview and update on today’s evacuation and reunification process following the gas leak at Williston Middle School Central Campus.
The leak was caused by a defective shut-off valve and fitting connected to a boiler installed during renovations within the last couple of years. Thanks to the swift and coordinated efforts of our staff and emergency personnel, everyone remained safe throughout the day.
The contractor is currently repairing the system. Once the repairs are finished, pressure testing will confirm whether it's safe for students to return to campus for in-person learning tomorrow. We will send a direct text and email update to all WMSCC families and staff as soon as a decision is made. Ensuring the safety of our students and staff remains our top priority.
Once the WMSCC reopens for in-person school attendance, students will be able to retrieve their backpacks and any belongings left behind.
𝗧𝗶𝗺𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀:
- 8:45 AM: An odor was detected, and students were immediately evacuated.
- 9:00 AM: Students were transitioned to the Raymond Family Community Center for reunification with families.
- 9:30 AM: Reunification began for approximately 1,300 students.
- 12:00 PM: Over half of the students had been safely reunified with their families.
- 2:15 PM: The reunification process was complete, and all students were safely reunited with their families.
𝗧𝗛𝗔𝗡𝗞 𝗬𝗢𝗨
We are incredibly grateful to everyone involved. Thank you to our parents and families for your patience and cooperation, to our students for remaining calm, and to our dedicated staff, District Reunification Team, District Food Services, our School Resource Officers and Transportation for making this process as smooth as possible.
A special thank you to the Williston Fire Department, Williston Police Department, and MDU for their essential support.
Additionally, we’d like to recognize the generosity of local businesses who donated extra food for students and staff, including Jersey Mike's, Don Pedro’s, Papa John’s, and 3 Amigos. We also appreciate Vac U Jet for providing portable restrooms.
Thank you all for your understanding and support during this time. We are proud of how our community came together to ensure the safety and well-being of our students.
Warm regards,
WBSD7 & WMSCC Administration

WBSD7 is undergoing a process to create elementary attendance boundaries, which will take effect in the 2026-2027 school year with the opening of the new elementary school.
This survey is designed to gather foundational input from the community for the Board and Administration to consider in the development of boundary concepts. There will be another community meeting on January 9, 2025 to follow up on this survey and other boundary-setting processes.
𝗦𝗨𝗥𝗩𝗘𝗬 𝗚𝗢𝗔𝗟𝗦:
- Confirm the Board's Guiding Principles
- Rank the Boundary Criteria
- Comment on the Draft Boundary Concept
- Provide input on the implementation of the Future Boundary Plan
Thank you for your participation! The results of this community survey will guide the Board and Administration in establishing the elementary school boundaries.
The survey is being conducted by WBSD7's school planning consultants, RSP & Associates.
The survey will remain 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗢𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟭𝟴, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰.

The groundbreaking ceremony is hosted in partnership with JLG Architects, JE Dunn Construction, and the City of Williston.
The Williston High School band will provide live music to celebrate the occasion, and 3 Forks Services will be serving hotdogs and hamburgers for all to enjoy. We hope you can join us in marking this exciting milestone for our district!
